Lagan Valley Independent Assembly candidate, Gary Hynds, says police officers got ‘a disrespectful pay deal’ from the leader of the Alliance Party.
Mr Hynds: The Alliance Justice Minister signed off on a zero pay deal which beggars belief. How she was able to do that at a time of soaring utility, food and fuel bills must be explained.
“The Minister cannot blame others for this dreadful decision. The Police Federation for Northern Ireland says hundreds of officers are not able to meet the cost of essentials every month and all the Minister can do is give them a disrespectful pay deal.’
Scores of police families in Lagan Valley are feeling the pinch because of this unfathomable decision. If Alliance was a party of law and order, it would reconsider this action. Police officers who protect us all deserve better treatment than this from a local Minister.”
