My campaign to win an Assembly seat in Lagan Valley has received a welcome boost from respected Lisburn community activist, Shirley McMichael, wife of the late John McMichael.
Shirley is a former member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board and is wholly committed to getting effective political representation for the people of Lisburn and Lagan Valley.
In a post on Facebook, Shirley tells her followers: “I will be voting for Gary Hynds as my No. 1 in the upcoming election.
“Gary is an Independent candidate and has always worked very hard for the local community on a voluntary basis. Good luck to you, Gary Hynds.”
Shirley’s support follows the endorsement I received from Alan Love who, as a UKIP candidate, secured 2,200 votes in the 2015 election.
I am deeply indebted to Shirley for her wholehearted support and honoured that she should think me good enough to do the job.
