The Secretary of State, Brandon Lewis, gets this week’s Spin Award for what he said about the Prime Minister’s Covid fixed penalty.
He must really think we came up the Lagan in a bubble. He told viewers on Sky News that the scandalous law-breaking ‘partygate’ behaviour of Boris was no worse than Tony Blair getting a parking ticket.
Really? Breaking the tough lockdown laws he created is nothing like a parking ticket or a speeding fine. It is laughable to suggest that it is.
Boris has apologised, again and again, but you know, it’s all wearing thin. While the rest of the country followed laws he signed off on, exceptions were allowed in Downing Street.
Brandon’s having a laugh, but at least he did his best at damage limitation even if it did fall flat on its face.
